Scope of tourism - permitted activities in CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) Notification 2019

Obviously CRZ notification is recently infamous for coastal constructions; at the same time famous, related to management and conservation of marine and coastal ecosystems. Whatever it be, the new notification 2019, is quite different from 2011 notification and it gives room for tourism facilities along the coastal area. 

As per the 2019 notification, wherever there is a national or state highway passing through no development zone (NDZ) of CRZ III areas, temporary tourism facilities are permissible on the seaward side of the road. Whereas, on the landward side of such roads, resorts or hotels and associated tourism facilities are permitted. HOWEVER search permission will only be subject to the incorporation of tourism plan in the approved CZMP as per 2019 notification. 

Now it is the time for perusing the draft CZMP which is under process. To be borne in mind, the intended area shall be incorporated in the tourism plan in the CZMP. Moreover it is the bounden duty of the coastal community to verify search proposed tourism incorporated areas and to opine whether such affirmative actions would affect their livelihood options and sustainable development of coastal communities as such.
